Injury and displacement conditions will not defeat the trainees’ passion of the Bazaar project from work

Ibrahim al-Hilal’s injury during the ongoing war in the country for years, did not prevent him from being one of the most prominent trainees in the haircut workshop within the Bazaar project in Tal al-Samen camp in the countryside of al-Raqqa.

Al-Hilal (36 years old), lost one of his legs as a result of the explosion of a mine left over by ISIS in the village of al-Sherkrak years ago, before he was forced to flee to Tal al-Samen camp after the recent Turkish offensive.

The injury caused a deterioration in the condition of al-Hilal’s small family that is consisted of his wife and four children, due to the difficulty of finding a job that suits his physical situation, following the accident.

Al-Hilal says that in the Bazaar vocational training project, he found an opportunity to make up for what he missed due to the injury that did not actually prevent him from standing upright in front of the barber chair, aspiring to compete with his other peers.

Al-Hilal believes that his injury will not hinder the achievement of his ambition to provide a permanent source of income for his small family, which will be provided by the project after receiving the necessary professional training, as he put it.

Close to the training center for hairdressing workshops, you can notice Sawsan al-Safer’s eagerness and passion as she focuses on learning dressmaking skills.

Sawsan (30 years old), faces exceptional circumstances, as her husband was subjected to anaphylactic shock due to the cruel war conditions, to find herself facing great responsibility and bearing the burdens of raising eight children.

However, all these circumstances did not prevent Sawsan from searching for a source of income to support the family, so she obtained a simple sewing machine with the help of a female relative, and started learning the profession, so that she was able to secure part of her family’s needs.

With the start of the Turkish offensive on northeastern Syria, Sawsan and her family were forced to flee from the village of al-Zeibaqiya in the eastern countryside of Tal-Abyad and headed to Tal al-Samen camp, to find themselves facing more severe conditions.

This young mother says that Bazaar project is a new hope to change the course of her life and the life of her family to the best, as she aspires to start working immediately with the end of the vocational training period.

GAV organization launched the activities of the Bazaar project in Tal al-Samen camp on June 21, aiming at training 24 male and female beneficiaries of the camp’s residents on sewing, dressmaking, hairdressing and haircut, under the supervision of professional trainers.

The project aims to reintegrate the trainees into the labor market after obtaining professional training, in addition to supporting them with the tools necessary to launch special projects in specific professions, to help them secure steady sources of income for them and their families, and reduce their dependence on humanitarian aid.
