The opening of Al-Rasheed Elementary School on 25 April 2019

The Al-Rasheed elementary School was founded in 1998 in the village of Rasheed in the northwest countryside of Raqqa governorate, and the village derives its name from the name of Abbasid caliph Harun al-Rasheed, with 396 students and students from primary school.

“Me and my School” project targeted Al-Rasheed school after the team examined the effects of the destruction, and the number of students decreased from more than 600 pre-war students to 396.

“Me and My School” project provided  90 classroom benches to replace shattered ones  in classrooms, 6 chairs and teachers ‘ tables were replaced, all school boards were serviced and stationery and chalk collections were provided, and the school was provided with a children’s entertainment Group, a billboard and a cleaning group, as well as seven trash baskets and two garbage cans.

“Me and My Schools” project held an opening ceremony for the Rasheed School on 25 April 2019 in the presence of students, their parents and teachers, in which 396 school bags were distributed to all students, and awareness brochures were distributed to encourage students to better integrate into the educational process.

In order to communicate effectively with the beneficiaries of the project, “Me and My School” project team met the parents of the students and teachers of the school who demanded the need to renovate the shattered parts of the school and improve the bathrooms by providing it with water tanks and maintenance of faults, as well as providing teaching aids as a computer and a screen and projector to facilitate the educational content for children, while the children demanded to include colors and a geometrical kit in their school bags.

Me and My School” is a project launched by the GAV Relief and Development Organization on 20 March 2019 and aims to create a favorable environment for the residents and children of Raqqa city and the area of al-Qahtaniyah in the countryside of the governorate to engage in the educational process in a coordinated and orderly manner, and encourage the displaced people to return to their towns and villages , As part of the organization’s plan to respond to the needs of the educational sector in the regions of north-eastern Syria.

“Me and my School” project responds to the service requirements of 37 schools in Raqqa and its countryside among the most affected by the war that destroyed schools and afflicted damage to classes, fences and benches, hindering the progress of the educational process in its desired form, and prevent children from having access to a suitable and appropriate educational environment after the restoration of security proportionally to the liberated areas.
