Distribution of School Bags and tools at Rabaa al-Adawiya School
Rabaa al-Adawiya School was founded in 1984 and is named after the famous Sufi Rabaa al-Adawiya, who lived in the Abbasid era and is famous for its poems of the divine love. The school is located in the south-eastern district of Raqqa city and has three students from 4th to 12th grade, with a total of about 750 students.
The project of “Me and My School 2” targeted Rabaa al-Adawiya school in the campaign of distributing bags and school tools in order to reduce the expenses of education that may burden the parents of students, as well as in order to encourage children to return to their schools after they were cut off until 2018 during the control of ISIS in the region, and On 15/09/2019, the project team distributed 527 bags to the students in their classrooms after having some sweets together with the students.
“Me and My School 2” is a project that aims to provide students in 13 schools in Raqqa city and its countryside with school bags and tools to meet their basic educational needs. It is a continuation of the “Me and My School” project launched by GAV for Relief and Development on March 20, 2019, and aims to create the right environment for the families and children of Al-Raqqah city and its countryside to engage in the educational process in a coordinated and orderly manner, and encourage the return of IDPs to their liberated towns and villages, as a part of the organization’s plan to respond to the needs of the education sector in north-eastern Syria.
The first phase of the project included a service response to 37 schools among the most affected by the war in Raqqa and its countryside by maintaining its blackboards and providing its classes with seats, tables, chairs, stationery, chalk and children’s entertainment groups, as well as providing schools with billboards.
