Salhabiyah Muhdethah school 21 April 2019
Al-Salhabiyah Muhdethah School is an elementary school that was updated and opened in 2012 due to the increase of students in the western village of Salhabiyah, about 30 km west of Raqqa city, and the school has 415 students from the primary level.
“Me and my School” project targeted the Al- Salhabiyah School after the project team examined the damage to the school as a result of the war, its classrooms were partially destroyed and its benches and blackboards were damaged and a section of its wall and the school building and its toilets were closed during ISIS control of the region, which negatively affected the proper functioning of the educational process and created a non-stimulating environment for education.
Me and my school project opened Al-Salhabiyah Al-Muhdethah school on 21 April 2019 after amendments were made and awareness brochures were distributed to encourage students engage in the educational process effectively.
The project of “Me and my School” provided 35 benches to replace the shattered ones in the classrooms, 3 classrooms were provided with teacher’s chair and desk and the blackboards were maintained and a stationery and chalk set was provided, and the school was equipped with a children’s entertainment set, a billboard and a cleaning kit, as well as a trash basket and garbage cans.
In order to communicate effectively with the beneficiaries of the project, the team of “Me and My School” project met the parents of the students and teachers of Al-Sbahyiah Al-Gharbiyah school who stressed their urgent need to remove the rubble from the school yard and to build their walls and rehabilitate their toilets, in addition to the need for more educational means.
“Me and My School” is a project launched by the GAV Relief and Development Organization on 20 March 2019 and aims to create a favorable environment for the residents and children of Raqqa city and the town of al-Qahtaniyah in its countryside to engage in the educational process in a coordinated and orderly manner, and encourage the displaced people to return to their towns and villages , As part of the organization’s plan to respond to the needs of the educational sector in the regions of north-eastern Syria.
“Me and my School” project responds to the service requirements of 37 schools in Raqqa and its countryside among the most affected by the war that destroyed schools and damaged the classes, walls, benches and other things , hindering the progress of the educational process in its desired form, and prevents children from having access to a suitable and appropriate educational environment after the restoration of security proportionally to the liberated areas.
