The educational sector is considered one of the most important pillars for the advancement of society, so it must get special attention and care in the various circumstances that peoples and countries go through, given the seriousness of the consequences of stopping the process.
The Syrian conflict has caused significant destruction in several sectors, primarily the educational sector, as about two million children have been deprived of education, according to UNICEF.
Like other regions, northeast Syria has subjected to significant damages since the control of the extremist groups such as ISIS on large spaces of the area, and the clashes that were taken place every now and then due to the government forces’ attacks, in addition to the catastrophic consequences of the Turkish invasion of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tel Abyad regions in October 2019. With the conflict going down and the military defeat of ISIS, and despite the efforts to improve the educational process, there is a need to do a lot of work in order to overcome the war effects and to revive this important sector.
Therefore, in August, the GAV4RD started its special project (Me And My School 3) of restoration of 14 schools which are run by the Education Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) in the areas of Hasakah, Qamishli, Tel Tamr and al-Shaddadi, on that the work of the project to restore and restructure the schools should continue for two months, so that they will be ready to receive students in good environment and appropriate conditions, in support of education and in the interest of the area’s residents.
