GAV – al-Raqqa

The activities of the Bazaar project, launched by GAV organization, started in Tal al-Samen camp for Tal-Abyad IDPs and its countryside on June 21.

The first three days of the project included practical training workshops for the beneficiaries in the professions of sewing, dressmaking, hairdressing and haircut at the center that was designated for the project inside Tal al-Samen camp, amid emphasis on commitment to the preventive measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The activities of the first day started with two simultaneous training workshops in sewing and haircut with the participation of six beneficiaries in each workshop under the supervision of the contracted trainers.

On the second day, two workshops were also held in dressmaking and hairdressing with the participation of six beneficiaries in each workshop.

The workshops organized during the first and second days, focused on basic theoretical concepts regarding various specific professions, how to deal with the tools and means used during work, and teaching the beneficiaries the function of each tool and the best way to use it.

On the third day, the vocational workshops moved to focus on the applied practical side after distributing the tools assigned to each trainee in each of the professions targeted by the project, such as (haircut tools, sewing tools, etc.).

The Bazaar project aims to provide vocational training for 24 male and female beneficiaries of Tal al-Samen camp residents in sewing, dressmaking, hairdressing and haircut under the supervision of trainers from the camp residents itself.

The project aims to reintegrate the trainees into the labor market after obtaining professional training, in addition to supporting them with the tools necessary to launch special projects in specific professions, to help them secure steady sources of income for them and their families, and reduce their dependence on humanitarian aid.
