Distribution of school bags and tools to students of Ratla Al-refiah School
Ratla Al-refiah School was founded in 1984 in the village of Ratla in Al-Raqqah countryside. It is said that the village’s name is derived from the winding path of the passing river nearby, but also is said that Ratla means “a small hill”. Ratla Al-refiah School has about 550 students from the first and second sections, while before the war in Syria it had about 750 students.
“Me and My School 2” project targeted the Ratla Al-refiah School in the campaign to distribute bags and school tools in order to reduce the expenses of education that may burden the parents of students, as well as to encourage children to return to school after being cut off as a result of displacement during ISIS control until 2017. On 18/09/2019 The project team distributed 441 bags to the students in their classrooms after having some sweets together with them.
“Me and My School 2” is a project that aims to provide students in 13 schools in Raqqa city and its countryside with school bags and tools to meet their basic educational needs. It is a continuation of the “Me and My School” project launched by GAV for Relief and Development on March 20, 2019, and aims to create the right environment for the families and children of Al-Raqqah city and its countryside to engage in the educational process in a coordinated and orderly manner, and encourage the return of IDPs to their liberated towns and villages, as a part of the organization’s plan to respond to the needs of the education sector in north-eastern Syria.
The first phase of the project included a service response to 37 schools among the most affected by the war in Raqqa and its countryside by maintaining its blackboards and providing its classes with seats, tables, chairs, stationery, chalk and children’s entertainment groups, as well as providing schools with billboards. Trash cans and garbage containers.
