Distribution of school bags and tools to students of Al-Rhiyat preparatory school
Al-Rhiyat Preparatory School was founded in 2017 in the former center of the village council, as the main school in the village was no longer sufficient to accommodate the growing number of students. In 2012 the building of village council was transformed into the headquarters of armed opposition militias, and then became the headquarters of ISIS. The village derives its name from its hand-crafted millstone, which are called “Al-Rhiyat” in the local dialect. Al-Rhiyat school has about 250 students in the preparatory level.
The Project of “Me and My School 2” targeted al-Rhiyat preparatory school in the campaign of distributing bags and school tools in order to reduce the expenses of education that may burden the parents of students, as well as to encourage children to return to school after they have been cut off until 2017, and on 25/09/2019 the project staff distributed 111 bags to the students in their classrooms after giving them some candy.
“Me and My School 2” is a project that aims to provide students in 13 schools in Raqqa city and its countryside with school bags and tools to meet their basic educational needs. It is a continuation of the “Me and My School” project launched by GAV Relief and Development on March 20, 2019, and aims to create the right environment for the families and children of Raqqa city and Al-Qahtaniya area of the province countryside to engage in the educational process in a coordinated and orderly manner, and encourage the return to their liberated towns and villages which is a part of the organization’s plan to respond to the needs of the education sector in north-eastern Syria.
