Distribution of school bags and tools to students of Al-Galta School
Al-Galta School dates back to 1965 in the village of Al-Galta, about 40 km north of Raqqa city. It consists of three buildings, one of which is destroyed during the fighting against ISIS. The school currently has about 200 students, from about 350 before the war in Syria. The school closed in 2013 and turned into a shelter for displaced people until 2017.
The Project of “Me and My School 2” targeted Al-Galta school in the campaign of distributing bags and school tools in order to reduce the expenses of education that may burden the parents of students, as well as to encourage children to return to school after they have been cut off until 2017, and on 25/09/2019 the project team distributed 158 bags to the students in their classrooms after giving them some candy.
“Me and My School 2” is a project that aims to provide students in 13 schools in Raqqa city and its countryside with school bags and tools to meet their basic educational needs. It is a continuation of the “Me and My School” project launched by GAV for Relief and Development on March 20, 2019, and aims to create the right environment for the families and children of Raqqa city and Al-Qahtaniya area of the countryside, to engage in the educational process in a coordinated and orderly manner, and encourage the return to their liberated towns and villages which is a part of the organization’s plan to respond to the needs of the education sector in north-eastern Syria.
