Al-Salhabiyah Al-Sharqiyah Primary School
Al-Salhabiyah Al-Sharqiyah Primary School was founded about 20 years ago in the village of Salhabiyah (20 km) west of Raqqa city. Despite its modernity, as well as its long-term closure during the war, it is considered a distinct school, with many of its students completing their university studies, and many engineers and physicians have studied in this school.
“Me and my School” project targeted Al-Salhabiyah Al-Sharqiyah Primary School, which has a population of 257 students, for the moral and material devastation as a result of the war in the region, partly destroying its wall, and no longer suitable for the conduct of its education because of the crash of benches, the damage of blackboards and the lack of teacher’s desks and benches.
On 13 April 2019, “Me and My School” project provided 15 benches, desks and chairs to replace the shattered ones in some classrooms and to maintain the blackboard in one with a stationery and chalk set, as well as a billboard in the school lobby and a recreational group for children, and provided the school Trash bins, garbage cans and a cleaning kit.
In order to communicate effectively with the beneficiaries of the project, the “Me and My School” team met the parents of the students and the teachers of Al-Salhabiyah Al-Sharqiyah primary school who expressed their happiness with the contribution of the project to improve the educational conditions in the school, while stressing the need to respond quickly to fill other basic needs of the school, such as fixing their toilets, repairing the destroyed part of the fence, as well as providing them with educational means and a computer with a printer.
“Me and My School” is a project launched by the GAV Relief and Development Organization on 20 March 2019 and aims to create a favorable environment for the residents and children of Raqqa city and the town of al-Qahtaniyah in the countryside to engage in the educational process in a coordinated and orderly manner, and encourage the displaced people to return to their towns and villages , As part of the organization’s plan to respond to the needs of the educational sector in the regions of north-eastern Syria.
“Me and my School” project responds to the service requirements of 37 schools in Raqqa and its countryside among the most affected by the war that destroyed schools and damaged the classes, fences, benches and others things, hindering the progress of the educational process in its desired form, and prevents children from having access to a suitable and appropriate educational environment after the restoration of security proportionally to the liberated areas.
