Iman and Jinan plan to enter the labor market after developing their professional skills
Iman al-Hussein, 33, and Jinan al-Ali, 35, are planning to start their new project after joining the team of trainees in the dressmaking profession within the project (Bazaar).
Both Iman and Jinan, who live in the city of Raqqa, say that these vocational training gave them hope that they would get an opportunity to start a private business, on which they depend to support their families.
Al-Ali, who lost her husband after his death in the government prisons during the war years, found herself responsible for securing the expenses of her only child, in addition to the members of her family of eight people.
The mother expresses her desire to develop her skills through the training provided by the fourth phase of the (Bazaar) project, in preparation for the implementation of her new economic plan aimed at improving her financial situation, by planning to open a shop for designing and dressmaking folk costumes, especially with the recovery of the local market in Raqqa since its liberation from the control of ISIS years ago.
Although only two weeks have passed since the start of the vocational training, Jinan seeks to master various skills such as designing dresses and skirts, which are considered among the most sought after designs in the local market, as she put it.
It is no different for Iman al-Hussein, who also supports three children due to the decline in her husband’s work due to the economic conditions in the country in general.
Al-Hussein, who joined the team of trainees in the fourth phase of the Bazaar project, says that she needs to develop her expertise in the field of dressmaking, which she entered years ago, in order to start her own project and improve her conditions.
Al-Hussein works hard to develop these skills through the intensive training program within the (Bazaar) project launched by the GAV4RD organization to support and empower women professionally and economically.
On June 12, the practical training of dressmaking started with the participation of 24 women from the city of Raqqa, in an attempt to support women in securing continuous and stable livelihoods for them through an intensive training program, in addition to training in the field of professional marketing over a period of two and a half months.
The general context of the project supports the reintegration of the trainees into the labor market in line with the plan to provide them with technical support, help them obtain stable job opportunities, and focus on improving their economic level to allow them to rely on themselves and secure a stable income for their families, and to achieve financial independence for them.
The project comes in its fourth phase after empowering the skills of 84 male and female trainees from the residents of Tel al-Samen camp and the city of Raqqa during the previous three phases in the professions of sewing, dressmaking, haircut, hairdressing, plumbing, gypsum board and home electricity, in addition to professional marketing training.
