Trainees of (Bazaar 3) reap the fruits of their training and early join labor market
Many (Bazaar 3) trainees joined the local labor market, despite completing half of the phase of the practical training, after they had acquired the necessary skills to find job opportunities.
In one of the gypsum board workshops, five out of six trainees are enrolled in new part-time job opportunities at the end of the hours allocated for training each day.
Nizar Muhammad, 36, who was displaced from Aleppo years ago, and joined the gypsum board training workshop, recently got a real job opportunity in conjunction with continuing his practical training within the (Bazaar 3) team.
Muhammad takes advantage of this partial opportunity to support his family of five, and to secure his medication for the vertebral pain.
Fahd Ibrahim, 30, also started part-time work with Muhammad after he also got a similar opportunity.
Fahd, who did not have previous experience in the field of gypsum board, says that he joins his new job at the end of the time allocated for training in the (Bazaar 3) workshops.
As for the plumbing workshop, six trainees were able to complete their first private work despite the continuous practical training.
For the first time, the six trainees were paid for installing a water network and another for sanitation in an apartment in Raqqa, with the help of the trainer.
According to the 38-year-old trainee, Yasser al-Hashem, this workshop was completed after the end of the time allocated for training in the plumbing workshop in the (Bazaar 3) project.
Al-Hashem says that such work represents an opportunity to secure additional resources that help him save the expenses of daily life, especially as he needs to save money to restore his house, which was damaged during the liberation of Raqqa from ISIS in 2017.
The matter is no different for Fahd al-Hussein, 33, who joins the new job he acquired after the training period as part of the (home electricity) workshop team.
Al-Hussein mastered most of the basics of this profession despite the fact that the training phase did not end, due to his previous experience and the breadth of his relationships during the project, which helped him find a partial job opportunity after the end of the daily training period.
He says, like his other peers who got real job opportunities, he spends half a day in the new job, to develop his experience first, and secondly to secure his family’s daily expenses.
The (home electricity) workshop is not limited to al-Hussein only, as Ibrahim Ismail, 40, was able to join his new part-time job as well, after he had mastered the skills of this profession since joining the vocational training program within the team of (Bazaar 3) trainees.
These real practical experiences of the trainees of the professional workshops of (Bazaar 3) come only after the halfway point of the training phase that started on January 9, and will continue until March 10.
The third phase of the (Bazaar) project was launched after selecting 36 trainees distributed in the home electricity, plumbing and gypsum board workshops, with the aim of helping them secure a new start, reintegrate them into the labor market, and keep pace with their growing needs.
The project comes at a time when Raqqa, since its liberation from ISIS in 2017, has been witnessing remarkable urban activity with the start of reconstruction efforts and the increase in building projects, which led to the emergence of the need for many basic professions such as plumbing, gypsum board, paint, home electricity and others.
This phase includes providing practical and theoretical training sessions in specific professions, in addition to training in professional marketing.
