Bazaar’s intensive training raises the level of trainees’ skills and their professional techniques
Ahmed al-Hussein, 42, moves among the tools of making gypsum molds in the (gypsum board) workshop, realizing what he missed from this profession despite his work for years in painting inside and outside Syria.
Ahmed, who spent many years moving from one workshop to another in Syria, Lebanon and several African countries, says that he found in the third phase of (Bazaar) project his way of compensating for what he missed, and learning the profession of gypsum board that complements what he has mastered in the profession of painting during his previous years of work.
With only (12) training rounds, Ahmed appears to be more able to handle the installation of gypsum pieces, taking the correct measurements and casting the molds, according to the assessment of the trainer and his other colleagues.
In the plumbing workshop in Raqqa, you can see Ahmed Suleiman, 31, while trying to cut the excess iron bars with grinding, in preparation for installing chimneys, trying to master everything related to this profession.
On the other side, in the home electrical workshop in particular, Abdel Fattah al-Aboud,34, began using an optical meter easily to determine the height of the internal electricity boxes, instead of relying on water to determine the appropriate height. He says that this technology saves time and effort at the same time.
The third phase of the (Bazaar) project was launched in the city of Raqqa on January 9, after selecting 36 trainees distributed in the workshops of home electricity, plumbing and gypsum board, with the aim of helping them secure a new start, reintegrate them into the labor market and keep pace with their growing needs.
The project comes at a time when Raqqa has been witnessing a remarkable urban activity since its liberation from ISIS in 2017, with the start of reconstruction efforts and the increase in construction projects, which led to the emergence of the need for many basic professions such as plumbing, gypsum board, painting, home electricity and others.
This phase includes providing practical and theoretical training sessions in the specific professions, as well as training in the field of professional marketing throughout January until March 10.
